Waste Management

Mulanthuruthy Block Panchayat

Towards a Clean Environment and a Green Future

Cleanliness · Environmental Protection · Sustainable Development

Introduction

Scientific waste management is essential for protecting public health and preventing environmental pollution. Waste generated from households, institutions, commercial establishments and public places must be segregated at source and managed in an environmentally responsible manner. Waste management is a shared social responsibility of every citizen.

Mulanthuruthy Block Panchayat promotes cleanliness and effective waste management in its constituent Grama Panchayats through the coordinated efforts of Haritha Karma Sena, Kudumbashree, Suchitwa Mission, Haritha Keralam Mission and Local Self Government Institutions.

Types of Waste

Segregation of waste at source makes collection, processing, recycling and safe disposal more effective.

🍃

Biodegradable Waste

Food leftovers, vegetable waste, leaves and garden waste are biodegradable materials. These can be processed through suitable methods such as composting and biogas systems.

♻️

Non-Biodegradable Waste

Plastic, paper, glass and metal waste should be segregated, cleaned and kept dry before handing over to authorised collection systems for recycling and further processing.

🔋

Special Waste

Batteries, electronic waste, bulbs, sanitary waste and household hazardous waste require separate handling and disposal through appropriate authorised systems.

🏗️

Construction Waste

Waste generated during building construction, renovation and demolition should not be dumped in public places or water bodies. It must be managed in accordance with applicable rules.
